📚Book Review📚 Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross 📚Book Review📚

Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross

I got this book as part of my Fairyloot subscription but it is one I would've bought anyway.

I actively avoided the posts about this so I could form my own opinion on it and I was in for a treat!

This book is one of my favourite books of 2023. I loved the plot, the characters, the writing. Rebecca Ross did not disappoint!

I adored Iris and Roman and their banter. We got to see their relationship grow, and it didn't seem rushed to me. I also liked Attie and Marisol and hope we get to see more of them. Ross's prose was utterly beautiful, and I look forward to reading more!

That ending, though! I need to know what happens next. I'm counting down the days to the sequel!!

Has anyone else read this? What were your thoughts?

I know I said I'd be more active, and then I disappeared for a while.

We moved into our new house in January, and it's been hectic. My books are only just beginning to be unboxed and shelved.

I'll be back posting properly soon!

Sorry I've been so absent these past few months, I was under a lot of stress in my personal life and needed to take some time for myself.

I've moved house so a lot of my books are still in boxes (where they've been for several months!). I've been reading more on Scribd and BorrowBox.

I've just finished To Love Jason Thorn by Ella Maise. My first book of 2023!

3) Castles in Their Bones by Laura Sebastian - I've said it before I love all her novels so I'm finally cracking on with this one.

I read some pretty great books last month. 13 books overall, 6 were E-books 😀

My favourite has to be A Marvellous Light, it was a great historical fantasy novel and one I didn't expect to love as much as I did - I can't wait for the sequel.

Honestly though I rated quite a few of the books 5 stars so it was hard to choose a favourite!

📚Book Review📚 Smoke by Dan Vyleta ⭐️⭐ 📚Book Review📚

Smoke by Dan Vyleta ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The premise of this story is what pulled me into it. It's set in Victorian London where your sin is visible by Smoke that is leaks from your body. Everything is in display for others to see.

The novel has three main protagonists, Thomas, Charlie and Livia. Each who have a different relationship with Smoke and how they feel about it.

One thing that caused me to struggle with the novel is though it is is third person, the POV shifted between different characters which at times made it difficult to follow. The shifting narrative threw up a lot of questions for me which didn't get a lot of answers.

It was an interesting premise, and that kept me reading but ultimately it fell a little short of the mark. It does have a sequel called Soot but I'm not sure if I'll pick it up.

Has anyone else read this? What were your thoughts?

📚Book Review 📚 Caraval by Stephanie Garber 📚Book Review 📚

Caraval by Stephanie Garber
⭐⭐⭐⭐

I bought Caraval when it first hit the shelves but I never managed to finish it. This year I decided to give it another try and I'm glad I did.

The story was really well-written and took me on an adventure. You Spend the entire novel not knowing who or what to trust and I lived for it. The ending left it open for future novels, and I am waiting for my order of book 2 and 3 to arrive.

I'll be honest, I wasn't overally enthused about the romance and there were some plot twists that irked me a little but it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the novel.

Garber has created a captivating piece of work and I can't wait to see where the story goes.
