Synopsis:
A rare never-before-sold prequel novella to The Illuminae Files to celebrate Illuminae‘s fifth anniversary December, 2574. Forty-three days before the BeiTech attack on Kerenza IV.
This is the story of my first friendship.
This is the tale of my first murder?
Some monsters are born.
But I?

I was made.
My Review:
“It can be ‘right’ to kill one person to save five.
Or kill a thousand to save a thousand and one.
I will remember it well.
Here is a story I didn’t know I needed until it was here…that’s a lie. I definitely wanted more AIDEN and the authors delivered. In 84 pages, Kaufman and Kristoff managed to pack in a story that got you invested in new characters. It’s a prequel, you know what happens in Illuminae but you can’t help but get attached.
AIDEN is at the very centre of this story, in all their sneaky sinister glory and I lived for it. We got to see their backstory and why AIDEN is the way they are in The Illuminae Files. Not only do we get more AIDEN but we are introduced to some brand new characters that we know, we know isn’t not going to end well.
I felt this was a fantastic addition to the story. As someone who was sad to see the end to the original trilogy, I’m glad Kaufman and Kristoff gave us another snippet of it. I will say this, though it is a prequel…read it after the main series as it does serve as a spoiler to it and if there is anything you need to know about the Illuminae Files it’s that the surprises are worth waiting for!
