Mabel and Jack are a middle-aged couple about to endure their second Alaskan winter. They are trying to make a life for themselves, far from their families. They spend their days apart, Jack labouring trying to get their frozen wet land ready for farming and Mabel, alone in the cabin remembering their lost child and contemplating the end.
