Synopsis:

Hotdog pilot Marcus Powell has been chosen to test Taurus Enterprises’ prototype craft Crossline and its newly developed warp thrusters. But during the flight something goes incredibly wrong, forcing Powell into a parallel universe.

Soon after he lands on that strangely altered Earth, Powell reluctantly teams up with a trigger happy rebel leader, a pot-smoking shaman, a crafty pie-maker, and a weary solider who hates his guts — all to survive an epic battle he may have been destined for all along!

Meanwhile, back home, reclusive oil tycoon and Taurus CEO Buddy Rheams Jr. — who sent Powell on that very mission — has a mysterious past and a secret agenda, one that could prevent Powell from ever making it back to his wife and little girl.

From author Russ Colchamiro, CROSSLINE is the exciting tale of two ambitious men — and two mirror worlds — linked across time and space in a way neither of them could ever have imagined.

Because once you’ve crossed the line, can you ever really go back?

My Review:

When I first selected to read and review this book I was expecting a space-travel story, but it was so much more than that. It was full of rich characters, an intricate plot and realistic dialogue. I was not expecting to be instantly drawn into this story.

Crossline is a story about Marcus Powell, the pilot of the new Crossline ship, capable of warp speed. He’s a family man and has a bright future ahead of him; then he falls into a wormhole into a mirror dimension after being a little reckless. He then must find a way back to his own dimension.

Powell is a reluctant hero; he is deemed a saviour by the people of the alternate dimension, Aretha, that he has landed into, sent to find an end to the civil war that is tearing them apart.

What brings Colchamiro’s story to life is the characters. It’s filled with the realities of humanity; the ugly and the beautiful. The author’s use of time is exceptional – seamless. There was nothing in this book that seemed to be there for the sake of story progression – everything had purpose.

This story has a high re-readability and I am keen to read it again and hope for a sequel to be in the works. Crossline takes the reader on an adventure of hope and fear, but that what makes it so relatable. It’s a brilliant read and I highly recommend it.
