Synopsis:
Tiffy Moore needs a cheap flat, and fast.
Leon Twomey works nights and needs cash.
Their friends think they’re crazy, but it’s the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy’s at work in the day, and she has the run of the place the rest of the time.
But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly-imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven’t met yet, they’re about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rulebook out the window…
My Review:
TW: Gaslighting, imprisoned sibling, toxic relationship, stalking, cancer.
This is a book that I didn’t expect to like as much as I did. I’ve seen it making its rounds on Bookstagram but I was umming and aahing as to whether to pick it up and give it a try.I finally decided to give it a try over Christmas and I’m glad that I did. I was hooked straight away, and I really enjoyed the development Tiffy and Leon’s relationship.
The story follows Leon and Tiffy who share a flat (and a bed) at different times of the day. Tiffy is a spunky bright editor, while Leon is a quiet palliative care nurse. Their relationship begins with Post-Its left around the flat with little messages/reminders that evolves into more. The story is told from dual perspectives and the format for the two characters is very different so even if it didn’t tell you who’s chapter it was you would’ve been able to work it out. I really enjoyed the different narrations as it gave us an insight into the two characters and their lives.
The novel is brilliantly crafted, and I enjoyed the different interwoven subplots and getting to know every single one of the characters. This was a quick-paced novel that was a great read over the Christmas break, this is a book I would recommend reading
