Hit The Beach: A Book Set By The Sea

Sea Prayer by Khaled Hosseini – This novel is absolutely heartbreaking but a must-read. The artwork within this is phenomenal and it’s a story from father to son as they escape their homeland in the hopes of something better.

Watch Fireworks – A Book That Had a Fiery Romance

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston – I was nervous reading this novel, there was a lot of hype around it and I was anticipating it being over-hyped. It did not disappoint me. I absolutely loved this novel.

Go For A Road Trip – A Book That Involves a Journey

Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson – Another light summer read, that follows the two title characters on a road trip across the states.

Camp Under The Stars – A Book That Had You Starstruck

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys – I adored this story when I discovered it a few years ago. It is a masterpiece, the writing is phenomenal and I would recommend it to everyone even if Historical Fiction isn’t your forte. Sepetys did such an amazing job and you can tell that she did her research.

Marathon Some Movies – A Book You Couldn’t Put Down

Read With Pride by Lucy Powrie – I relate so much to the characters in this novel, it reminds me of my school days. This novel follows Olivia, who outraged by the new rules implemented at the school library, decides to take a stand.

Go Out For Ice Cream – A Book With A Sweet Romance

Eliza and her Monsters by Francesca Zappia – I loved the relationship between Wallace and Eliza. It’s light, fluffy and just the kind of cute romance to read in the summer.

Picnic In The Park – A Book That Was A Breath Of Fresh Air

The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta – A captivating story of self-discovery, written in a lyrical format. It’s quick, impactful and completely sucks you in.

Go For A Hike – A Character Who Conquered An Obstacle

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson – Speak is a fascinating tale of learning to use your voice when you didn’t believe it mattered. Anderson is an amazing writer with a distinctive writing style. It follows Melinda, as she struggles to overcome what happened to her in the summer.

Grill Some BBQ – A Book Featuring Delicious Food

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevado – I adored this book and this book is in my top reads this year. Emoni loves to cook, and you can see how passionate she is in this novel. She takes a recipe and creates something magical.

Watch The Sunrise – A Book That Inspired You

Stephen King – On Writing – This was recommended to us during my Creative Writing BA, and I found it really good. King’s memoir addresses key issues of writing a book and provides some good advice.
