Vesuvius

He stood mighty and strong
towering above the bustling city
His head reached the clouds,
but below he hid a secret.

His stomach rumbled loudly,
It shook the floor violently.
His body sputtered and spurted
until suddenly he burst.

His stomach acid welled up
and crept towards the town.
A rapid stream of molton rock,
the city couldn’t outrun.

The ash engulfed the city,
A mother protected her child
Lovers embraced
Frozen in time forever.
