Theme of the Box
Description by Illumicrate
Our December theme is A LEGACY TO PROTECT! It’s the end of the year, and it’s been a rough one, so we thought we’d give you all a little treat and bring you a TWO BOOK MONTH! That’s right, both box and book only subscribers will be getting two books this month. You deserve it. There’s mysteries to unlock in both our chosen books this month, and we were absolutely gripped! The whole Illumicrew raced through these selections.
The Items
What is Lost Mug
Inspired by The Daevabad trilogy
Design by Rosie Thorns
I have to admit, this isn’t my favourite mug, The artwork is gorgeous but it’s just a little busy for my taste.
History Huh? Print Album
Inspired by:
Designed by: Ashley Diers
The design isn’t my favourite, but I was wanting somewhere to store all the prints I’ve been getting in these boxes, so this item was perfect.
Destiny is a Myth Desk Pad
Inspired by: Poppy War
Designed by: Her Paper World
I keep wanting to get desk pads but find that I never actually use them. This is pretty and I wish I could say I would use it but my track record speaks for itself.
Yip Yip Glass Nail File
Inspired by Avatar
Designed by: Cade
This is a nice nail file, not something I’d use and I’m not really in the fandom so it wasn’t really something I’d rave about.
No Peak Clan Framed Magnets.
Inspired by:
Designed by: Anna Vee
I don’t really know this fandom, the magnets are nice, and are currently on my fridge but again it’s another item I’m not enthused about.
Featured Book: The Ravens by Kass Morgan and Danielle Paige
Kappa Rho Nu isn’t your average sorority. Their parties are notorious. Their fundraisers are known for being Westerty College’s most elaborate affairs. But beneath the veil of Greek life and prestige, the sisters of Kappu Rho Nu share a secret: they’re a coven of witches. For Vivi Deveraux, being one of Kappa Rho Nu’s Ravens means getting a chance to redefine herself. For Scarlett Winters, a bonafide Raven and daughter of a legacy Raven, pledge this year means living up to her mother’s impossible expectations of becoming Kappa Rho Nu’s next president. Scarlett knows she’d be the perfect candidate- that is, if she didn’t have one human-sized skeleton in her closet. When Vivi and Scarlett are paired as big and little for initiation, they find themselves sinking into the sinister world of blood oaths and betrayals.
Featured Book: The Cousins by Karen M McManus
Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each other, and they’ve never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they’re surprised… and curious. Their parents are all clear on one point–not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother’s good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it’s immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious –and dark– their family’s past is. The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn’t over — and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.
Monthly Collectors Pin by Stacey McEvoy-Caunt
Inspired by the tarot cards used to determine a witch’s magic.
This was an okay box to end the year with but it wasn’t one of my favourites, the items are useful but the only thing I would really use is the print folder. I do love Karen M McManus so I was happy to receive this book. I’ve not heard of The Raven’s so I’m interested to see if this is a book I’d enjoy.
