Theme of the Box
Description by Illumicrate
This box is dedicated to stories with dangerous settings or situations, and crucially, have characters with the nous to get out of them (mostly) unscathed!
Tumbler
Inspired by The Lunar Chronicles
Design by @forensicsandflowers
This is the item that was missing from the August box. It’s alright, but it’s not something I would use which is what the majority of items were like for me last month.
The Items
Heart of the Wood Mug
Inspired by Uprooted
Design by Rosie Thorns
I haven’t read Uprooted but this mug is stunning – I’ve started to display these. They are just too nice to actually use!
Howler’s necklace
Inspired by:
Designed by: @NO0NEDESIGNS
This is a fandom I’m not familiar with, and I’ll be honest at first I thought it was inspired by The Witcher!
It’s Only A Game Cushion Cover
Inspired by: Caraval
Designed by: Sally Pham
I keep meaning to pick up Caraval and still haven’t gotten around to it! I love this cushion cover and I now plan to head out to get a cushion to go in it!
Lethe House Pouch
Inspired by Ninth House
Design by: Forensics and Flowers
This pouch is really pretty. I haven’t read Ninth House yet though it is on my TBR.
Woodmark
Inspired by Kingdom of Souls
Design by: Linnea
Another fandom that I’m not in, but I found the wordmark interesting and the art style is nice.
Featured Book: A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
This beautiful edition has an exclusive cover, hidden cover, sprayed edges and a bound-in author letter!
The Scholomance is a school for the magically gifted where failure means certain death (for real). There are no teachers, no holidays, and no friendships, save strategic ones. Survival is more important than any letter grade, for the school won’t allow its students to leave until they graduate… or die. The rules are deceptively simple: Don’t walk the halls alone. And beware of the monsters who lurk everywhere. El is uniquely prepared for the school’s dangers. She may be without allies, but she possesses a dark power strong enough to level mountains and wipe out millions. It would be easy enough for El to defeat the monsters that prowl the school. The problem? Her powerful dark magic might also kill all the other students.
Monthly Collectors Pin by Stacey McEvoy-Caunt
Inspired by the graduation gates of the Scholomance.
This is a great box, and I love most of the items even though I’m not in the fandoms. My favourite item has to be the cushion cover, and I can’t wait to use it. I’m intrigued about the October box which they have said is going to be fandom neutral.
