Synopsis:
Sawa Mitoma, a nervous, skittish girl who prefers minimal human interaction, has just started high school, and it’s already not going well…
…until she meets the “it” boys–the “prince-like” Mutsuki and the sharp-tongued Hajime. But little does she know, they’re Sohmas?! It’s Fruits Basket…again
My Review:
So, after finishing Fruits Basket, I discovered that there was a sequel to that called Fruits Basket Another, which is only three volumes long.
In this mini-series, we follow Sawa, a shy quiet girl who tries to fade into the background. One fateful day she runs in the Sohma family. Not the ones from the original series, their children. Sawa is a sweet girl, and this story is about her finding her voice through it all.
However, overall, I was underwhelmed by this series. I loved what the original series brought the heartache and issues that it highlighted but this series seemed to lack the same spark for me. This was Sawa’s story, and it is about her journey, which I did enjoy but for me, the Sohma’s were just…there. I didn’t see the same connection with them as I did with Tohru in the original series.
