2020 Wrap Up

October 2020 Wrap Up

This month I’ve felt in a bit of a slump. I read a lot of manga to try and get me out of it but I felt I was picking books up and not really engaging with them, my slump started to ease towards the end of the month. With all the manga I read this month, I read a total of 36 books.

E-Books:

Fruits Basket Volumes 9-23 by Natsuki Takaya ★★★★
Fruits Basket Another Volumes 1-3 by Natsuki Takaya ★★★★
Missing by Nenny May ★★★
Attack on Titan Volumes 11-31 by Hajime Isayama ★★★★

Physical Books:

Macbeth by William Shakespeare ★★★
The Graces by Laure Eve ★★★
The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton ★★★★
Dracula by Bram Stoker ★★★★

My favourite this month was The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton. It’s a story about a family, spanning several generations. It’s a story about life, love and desire. It’s is breathtakingly honest with fantastical elements. Walton’s writing sets a beautiful and heart-breaking atmosphere.

My least favourite this month was The Graces by Laure Eve. The story was an interesting read, but I felt like it wasn’t what I expected. I wasn’t completely sold on the protagonist River. I struggled to connect with her and it impacted on my enjoyment of the novel.

Stats:

Goodreads Goal: 167/100. I am on schedule.

I’ve read 9,013 pages this month. My average rating was 3.8.

I have read 3 contemporary, 31 manga, 1 play, 2 fantasy, 1 mystery, 1 classic.

Do you read manga? What do you suggest I read next?
